About
Dr. Frédéric Girault is an associate professor at Université Paris Cité, in the “Physics of Natural Sites” research team of the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP). His research interests are the study of the behavior of natural geosystems based on field work, laboratory experiments and analog, analytical and numerical modeling. He is coresponsible of the french-german Master in geophysics and Deputy Director of the doctoral study departement at IPGP. In the framework of the international guest researchers programme at Université Paris Cité, he is preparing a joint publication with Prof. Upreti on hot springs in Nepal and their associated geology. Frédéric was inspired by Frédéric Perrier who initiated these research subjects in Nepal.
Prof. Bishal Nath Upreti, an internationally well-known geologist expert of the Himalaya, is an academician of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST). He has taught at Tribhuvan University in Nepal and served as Head of Department of Geology and Dean of Science. Member of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), he has conducted extensive geological research in the Nepal Himalaya, initiated multiple international collaborations, written and edited many books, and published over 90 research papers. He is a recipient of the C.N. R. Rao Award for Scientific Research from TWAS, is an Honorary Fellow of the Geological Society of America and a Foreign Fellow of Zambia Academy of Sciences.
