The 2025 edition of the Circle U. Summer School “Rethinking Global Health” will be held from the 30th of June to the 5th of July 2025 in Paris. It will be organised by Université Paris Cité. Do you want to take part in it? Apply before the 28th of February 2025.
Circle U., the European alliance brings together Université Paris Cité, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, King’s College London, UCLouvain, the University of Oslo, the University of Aarhus, the University of Belgrade, the University of Pisa and the University of Vienna.
The Summer School provides a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration between academics and students, delving into a wide range of topics.
Summer school programme
The summer school will offer an engaging mix of lectures delivered by both academic experts and professionals, insightful short talks by alumni of previous Summer Schools, group works, social events related to global health, and scenario-based approaches.
Participants will explore pressing issues such as health inequalities across local and global levels, health prevention programmes implementation, the challenges faced by vulnerable populations, gender dynamics, NGOs perspectives, and the evolution from colonial medicine to the concept of planetary health. We will also introduce discussions on cutting-edge advances, including artificial intelligence and innovative technologies that are shaping the future of global health.
The summer school will include:
- 1 online sessions before and after the Summer School: the first will introduce the Knowledge Hub, the participants and the learning objectives of the Summer School. The second one will revolve around a critical discussion on a specific topic.
- On-site courses from the June 30th to July 5th: the students will be expected to actively participate in group discussions, moderated posters presentation and share their approach on global health during the seminars planned over the week.

Will I get ECTS points?
The Summer School will award 3 ECTS points, delivered by UPCité. PhD students will have to ask their home institution to accept these ECTS points for their respective PhD programme.

How do I find housing in Paris for the summer school?
Université Paris Cité booked several individual rooms at CROUS Paris (university housing) at a competive price of 345€ for 7 nights. The rooms are located less than half an hour from the event venue and are equipped with a small kitchen. Bed sheets and towels are provided.
If you wish to benefit from this accommodation, you will have to indicate your choice on the application form and confirm it upon selection.
Paris offers several other accommodation options. You can also choose to book a room by yourself.
Do I have to book my plane/train tickets by myself?
Successful applicants will be asked to book their train or flight tickets.
