Initiated by the Materials Research Society (MRS), the four European chapters situated in Paris, Haselt, Cologne, and Geneva are collaborating to host the inaugural workshop of an ongoing series, scheduled to take place in Paris from March 19 to 22, 2024.
Driven by a group of materials science students, Université Paris Cité has earned recognition from the Materials Research Society and the European Materials Research Society. By establishing the first MRS University Chapter in France, the university underscores the excellence of its materials science research and training.
Recognising the importance of collaboration in materials science and engineering across Europe, the four European MRS chapters are organising a series of workshops. These workshops, open to seasoned researchers, global materials scientists, faculty members, engineers, and students.
For this inaugural edition, eight themes have been carefully chosen, covering materials for health, carbon-based materials, inorganic materials for energy, ceramics for a sustainable future, high inertia alloys, ceramics for a sustainable future, high entropy alloys, machine learning, and nanomagnetism.
International experts are specially invited.
For three days in Paris, specialists and young scientists will meet for oral presentations and poster sessions. There will be a friendly poster session on a boat along the Seine, combining cultural and scientific activities. Networking is encouraged, discussing scientific collaborations, student exchanges, and career opportunities to bridge communities.
Submit abstracts by Friday, March 1, 2024.

It hosts research projects that often fall outside the scope of traditional doctoral schools due to their unconventional and cross-disciplinary nature. We interviewed three of our PhD students, who shared their thesis topics, explained why they chose the FIRE doctoral school, and offered advice for the next cohort.
