Born out of a partnership between RFI and Université Paris Cité, and spearheaded by its Pedagogical Innovation Department, the podcast ‘Décalages culturels’ has been running since March as part of the programme ‘8 milliards de voisins’. Having explored the intercultural experiences of the university community through personal accounts and analyses by experts, the project is now being extended into the educational sphere.
When testimonies are used for the learning field
Financed as part of the STAND-UP project, this partnership aims to overcome cultural misunderstandings and showcase the diversity present on the campuses of Université Paris Cité, which welcomes many international students each year.
Some episodes of the series are now accompanied by online educational resources for learning French, jointly developed by Université Paris Cité’s Studies, Education and Pedagogical Innovation Department and RFI. They provide an excellent opportunity for B2 and C1 level learners of French as a foreign language to improve their skills in a flexible and fun way.
Discover the first enhanced episodes
The “Le français facile avec RFI” website offers commented and decrypted international news using targeted vocabulary and accessible grammar for FLE learners.
In this dynamic, the first enhanced episodes of “Décalages Culturels” explore key themes of interculturality from a practical and interactive angle. You can now discover these resources through the following themes:
- Distance and the body: exploring the perception of personal space across cultures.
- The perception of time: questioning the notions of punctuality, schedule management, and urgency.
- Hierarchy: decoding relationships with authority and institutional figures in university and professional environments.
Through these tools, Université Paris Cité and RFI confirm their commitment to intercultural dialogue, offering both general audiences insights and educational staff tailored support.
At Université Paris Cité, learning French is placed at the heart of the international student experience to foster their integration. This is why all international students can benefit from French as a foreign language courses throughout the academic year.
